Stereo Tube Power Amplifier
This Puresonics Model 402C (or 410C) is a rare piece, indeed. Saturday Audio has a been in the business for over 35 years, each of our staff has been at it for over 20 years, and our combined years of experience exceeds 100 years by quite a bit. No one here has ever seen one of these amplifiers in person. From the research we've done, this amplifier was built at the tail end of the golden era of tube amplifiers - sometime around 1965. The folks at Puresonics built this to compete with the Marantz 8b - rumor has it that they managed to get Dizzy Gillespie to market this for them. He appeared in some of their printed ads.
The amplifier is a really well designed piece of tube equipment. This was definitely NOT a kit or an inexpensive amplifier. The "quadramatic" reference on its front face does not mean that it is a 4-channel piece. What that is referring to is the very innovative circuit design which employed unusually high amounts of feedback to reduce distortion and improve linearity of response within the audible range.
This unit has just been completely re-capped and sounds marvelous. We're selling it with our usual 90 day parts and labor warranty.
