From which side you ever look at the new TD 2030 you will be suprised. As a part of his new design a brandnew sandwich technology is used to create a outstanding look and a acoustical perfect chassis. Viewed from above or the side you will see a warm colourful blue. From the front you will see a clear and transparent turntable.
In the TD 2030 we combined our more than 120 years of Tradition in tunrtable design and the newest research and manufacturing technologies to achieve the maximum.
Our brandnew 38mm aluminium platter is backside coated with a vibration damping material. The platter runs in our new silent run bearing which is maintenance free over the whole lifetime. The external motor has no contact to the chassis and therefore no vibrations can be transfered. It is supplied by a state of the art motor drive electronic which decouples the motor completely from mains. The 33mm sandwhich chassis is standing on damping feets to absorb any vibration.
Crystal clear - perfect sound
With the TD 2010 our more than hundret years of knowledge in turntable manufacturing lead into a new highlight. The TD 2010 is made with newest manufacturing technology and the lastest tools in research and development.
His chassis is made of 25mm polished Acryl and the platter is a more than 4kg heavy polished piece of aluminium with a backside coating for vibration damping. The xeternal motor is supplied by a state of the art Motor drive unit. The new invented silrent run bearing is also integral part of our design philosophie. This bearing runs dry without any maintennace during the whole lifetime. With his technical features and his outstanding design the TD 2010 is a timeless masterpiece.
State of the art
The chassis is made of 19mm thick high density wood. This is flexibly bonded to a 15mm thick steel plate and a second 19mm thick wood plate. The newly invented sandwich is so much better than ordinary construction in signal behavior and resonance absorption that you will immediately hear the difference. The steel plate has precision laser made cut outs to make sure that no magnetic distortion influences the audio signal. Standing on 3 polymer-damped adjustable feet that are also height adjustable, the chassis is decoupled and isolated from the mounting surface.
The Thorens silent run bearing is made of 2 sinter bushes with a polished stainless steel axle running inside. The tungsten ball at the end is running on a self lubricating and absolute maintenance free bearing point.
The low noise AC-motor is supplied from an electronic motor drive unit. The output signal is generated completely independent from the mains power. With this you get much better wow/flutter
The upper class

The primary goal at the beginning of the development of the TD 295 MKII was to use well established techniques to create a perfect sounding and elegant turntable. Something new with all the special features and the reliability Thorens has been famous for, for more than 100 years. Also an elegant design with an outstanding finish should be part of the new TD 295 MKIII. The technical requirements have been achieved by using a solid wood chassis in a sandwich technology. This is one reason for the sound quality of the TD 295 MKIII.
Also, a massive aluminium platter with 2.3kg is used to get enough inertia and weight to make sure vibration is absorbed and speed fluctuation are very low. The motor is a fully electronic regulated synchronous motor using a belt to drive the platter. The new TD 295MKIII stands on decoupling rubber feet and offers both speeds 33 and 45 rpm by electronic speed selection. The new TP 42 tonearm is supplied plug & play ready with an Ortofon OMB 10 cartridge.
Who says that Hi-Fi technology has been a complicated matter? The TD 170 can clearly demonstrate that playing your records has nothing to do with technical studies and time-consuming adjustments.
